Directions

In a large pot, heat oil and brown ground beef. Add aromatics (garlic, onion, herbs if desired) and saute for another 5 minutes, or so. Add all remaining ingredients EXCEPT the cabbage. Covery and bring to a boil. stirring frequently. Once boiling, add cabbage leaves and reduce to a simmer for 10 minutes until rice is mostly cooked, but not mushy. Remove bay leaf and serve. Instant Pot would be similar. Set to sear or saute for 15 minutes, follow the same instructions/timing as above. Make sure to scrape the bottom of the instant pot before closing. Close and lock the instant pot and cook on High Pressure for 3 minutes. Quick release the pressure, stire in cabbage, replace the lid and let cabbage cook in the hot water until wilted slightly. Don't forget to remove the bay leaf (if used) before serving. Crockpot: Same instructions, but brown beef and saute aromatics in a separate dish and then add everything together in the crockpot. Note: may prefer to cook the rice separately and add at the end. If so, exclude 1 cup of liquid. Cook on low for 6 hours or high for 4 hours, keep an eye on the rice. Add CAggage 1 hour before servicing.
