Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cup Flour
  • 1 tbsp Baking Powder
  • 1 tbsp Sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 6 tbsp Butter
  • 3 3/4 cup Milk
  • 1 lb Breakfast Sausage
  • 1 tsp Black Pepper

Directions

Preheat the oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit. In a large bowl, whisk together 2 cups of flour, the baking powder, sugar, and 1 teaspoon of salt. Cut 6 tablespoons of cold butter into the flour mixture until coarse crumbs form. Stir in 3/4 cup of milk until a soft dough forms. Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface, fold it several times, and pat it to a 1-inch thickness. Cut out 8 biscuits and place them on a baking sheet. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes until golden. While the biscuits bake, cook the breakfast sausage in a large skillet over medium heat until browned, breaking it into small pieces. Stir in the remaining flour and cook for 1 minute. Gradually stir in the remaining milk. Add the remaining salt and the black pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes until the gravy thickens. Split the warm biscuits and spoon the sausage gravy over them.
